ASG completes successfully
ASG says thank you to all partners, interested third parties, participants of ASG workshops and conferences and wishes successful projects in the future! After two and a half year of research and development the project is proud to have completed the project with a number of achievements and results such as the ASG platform prototype or the ASG reference architecture.

Future application opportunities for ASG platform discussed in industry workshop
With about 50 participants at the ASG industry workshop in Potsdam, Germany (February 20, 2007) coming from German IT companies the ASG project receives increasing attention by the German IT industry. The final ASG industry workshop presented ASG concepts and demonstrated the ASG plattform prototype in addition to introducing into underlying and related technologiens such as SOA or the Semantic Web with Tutorials and dedicated talks. Opportunities for future application of developed technologies and the ASG service platform were discussed with almost all participants. Despite the fact that the ASG platform is far beyond real industry adoption and represents still an attractive vision parts of it received high interest by Germany IT companies such as the Software AG. Embedded in the final ASG project meeting (6th ASG week) this succesful event concluded the project after two and a half years of intense research and development.

Visit ASG at OOP 2007, booth 3.3, from 22 to 25 January
The “OOP 2007 - Business Advantage through Software”, established as IT-industry-oriented conference with exhibition, will be the host for the presentation of European integrated project Adaptive Services Grid (ASG). The main aim is to present the projects achievements especially the ASG R&D results, core concepts, scenarios, dissemination activities and last but not least the demonstration of the ASG platform prototype.
Visit ASG at booth 3.3, from 22 to 25 January 2007 at the ICM International Congress Center in Munich, Germany.

ASG will present final project results at industry workshop
The ASG Project invites all interested third parties to the ASG industry workshop, which will take place in the Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci in Potsdam, Germany, on February 20th in 2007. Experts of the project will elaborate on the latest developments in the field of service-oriented architectures and semantic web technologies, and will present final results of the project in addition to a demonstration of the ASG prototype for a semantic service platform. Further topics are business challenges and solutions for companies who want to establish a SOA successfully, trends for SOA, and challenges for services in a mobile world.
In addition, ASG is proud to announce that the keynote will be given by Jesus Villasante, Head of Unit “Software Technologies” at the European Commission with a talk on “Strategy, results and impact of the European Research Programme: the past, the present, and the future”. Since target audience are primarily IT representatives and SME’s from Germany, the project decided to hold the workshop in German language, except the keynote.

ASG meets German SME's in Kaiserslautern, Germany
ASG partner Fraunhofer IESE presented ASG concepts, the architecture and development methodologies for services and service-oriented applications to German SME’s (beeing members of the Software Technologies Initiative) during an ASG industry workshop in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Cooperation with Software AG announced at ASG Industry Workshop
At the ASG industry workshop in Koblenz, Germany, keynote speaker Ivo Totev (Vice President Product Marketing crossvision from the Software AG) announced cooperation between the Software AG and the Hasso-Plattner-Insitut, which is the scientific project leader of ASG. The cooperation will focus on service-oriented architectures and semantic service specifications. Among others projects are planned in which products of the Software AG are going to be used as ASG components and on the other hand concepts and ideas of ASG, such as semantic annotations, will be integrated into products of the company.

ASG Industry Workshop "SOA and Semantics" in Koblenz, Germany announced
ASG is proud to announce the industry workshop "SOA and Semantics" which will take place in Koblenz, Germany, July 6, 2006. This workshop will elaborate on the advantages and drawbacks of SOA and how state-of-the-art can be brought to a next level using semantic web services. Besides technological insights and business opportunities, challenges are presented for enterprises who want to establish a SOA platform. In addition, ASG will present its latest achievements and a prototype of a semantic web service environment. (Due to local conditions talks will be held mostly in German language.)

ASG at CeBIT 2006 in Hannover, Germany
ASG is presented at the international CeBIT fair in Hannover, Germany (March 9-15, 2006) by two project partners: the project management leader University of Potsdam and tranSIT GmbH, an SME that is responsible for the coordination of dissemination activities of the project. Visitors have the opportunity to get in touch with ASG members in order to receive more information or to discuss latest developments at the booths of University of Potsdam in Hall 9/Stand B39 and tranSIT in Hall 6/Stand B04.

ASG partner ASTEC awarded by the International Science Network
ASG partner ASTEC, a polish software company, received an Innovation Certificate 2005 that was awarded by the International Science Network. The Institute of Economic Science by the Polish Academy of Sciences coordinated the project. Thereby Astec is among the most innovative and development-oriented Polish companies. A major role herein plays the involvement of Astec in the ASG project where it develops new tools for (semi-)automatic service creation and integration and proofed its know-how by applying latest approaches in software development.

ASG and SDK Cluster form the European Semantic Systems Initiative (ESSI)
The SDK (SEKT, DIP, Knowledge Web) Cluster has strategically aligned with ASG (Adaptive Services Grid) resulting in the formation of the European Semantic Systems Initiative (ESSI) cluster. The new ESSI Cluster combines Semantic Web Services and Semantically empowered system solutions with Semantically empowered service-oriented architectures.

Collaborative project between ASG, and the SemDis and METEOR-S projects at the LSDIS lab of the University of Georgia, USA
USA's National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a two year collaborative project between EC's FP6-IST Thematic Priority and NSF ITR funded projects. The project, called "SemGrid: Semantic Discovery on Adaptive Services Grid" (NSF side Principal Investigator: Professor Amit Sheth) will exploit synergy between EC sponsored project Adaptive Services Grid (ASG), and the SemDis (Semantic Discovery) and METEOR-S (Semantic Web Process) projects at the LSDIS lab of the University of Georgia, USA.

The ASG brochure is now available
The dissemination component of the European Integrated Project Adaptive Services Grid (ASG) releases a brochure which provides further information about the project with an introduction into some of the main concepts and research issues of the project. Printed copies of the brochure will be distributed at events and a pdf-version is available for download at the ASG website.

ASG present at the Semantic Web Services Week in Innsbruck, Austria
Beside other European projects and institutions, ASG as co-organzer will be presented at an own stand at the Semantic Web Services Week 2005 in Innsbruck. The aim is to give an understanding of development approaches and provide a deeper look into current project ongoings and research work to conferees of research and industry. ASG is Co-organizer of the Semantic Web Services Week (SWSW 2005)
The world's top researchers in Computer Science are discussing the next generation of Internet technology - the Semantic Web - at the Semantic Web Services Week in Innsbruck, Austria, 6-10 June 2005. The Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) in Innsbruck, partner of the ASG project, organizes this event with assistence of Trans-IT, an Austrian ministry for innovation and technology, the Austrian Computer Society, and the EU funded projects ASG, DIP, KnowledgeWeb and SEKT.

ASG partner and responsible co-ordinator of the Computer-integrated Manufacturing Meeting tranSIT GmbH presents integrated project ASG at its own company exhibition stand. Main program is formed by the Faculties Computer Science and Automation, Economic Science and Mechanical Engineering of the TU Ilmenau and by the IHK Südthüringen. The annual CIM meeting is well known wide over Thuringia and have the distinction of a big participation of local small and medium-sized enterprises of the software industry on one hand and representitives of local authorities, members of ministries and regional press on the other.

ASG partners start Bachelor-project "Use Case Scenarios for ASG"
Together with the ASG partner Telenor R&D and DaimlerChrysler the HPI starts a course of studies with 6-8 students in April 2005. The students will have the chance to work on the several locations of the partners (Potsdam-Ulm-Telenor) as a trainee and will get a Bachelor qualification in the field of "IT System Engineering".

ASG component leader as panel member of SAINT2005 symposium
Josef Noll, Telenor R&D, work component leader C7 - Usability and Demonstration, has been invited as a panel member of the SAINT 2005, Trento, Italy, 31.1.-4.2.2005. The panel "Service Platform and Network Infrastructure for Ubiquitous Services" will focus on service platform technologies and network infrastructure that enable ubiquitous services. 'Ubiquitous services' are expected to emerge as a new class of service framework that integrates real-world activities and relevant cyber-world services.
Activities in Mobile IT Forum (mITF), Wireless World Research Forum WWRF) and other research projects will be also introduced in this panel. So there will be a good chance to input ASG-competence into the panel session.

Telenor and Telstra in discussion about complex services
On 5th January Dr. Walter Kozlowski from Telstra (Australia) visited Telenor (Norway) to discuss the "complexity of new services". Both Telecom operators have identified the need for a more dynamic and flexible service management. This includes next generation Internet technologies, as Semantic WEB and Ontologies. The operators agreed to co-operate, and endorse ASG and ASAPM to start negotiations on how to reach a NDA agreement.
