General impact

The Industry Workshop on SOA and ASG held in Poznan, Poland for some participants was the first contact with the concept of Semantic Web Services and semantically enriched platforms. As "web services" are nowadays an important topic - lots of questions were about differences between typical SOA-based solutions and ASG. Moreover, workshop participants raised and issue of reliability of services what is especially important in banking and insurance. An important topic was also connected to the utilization of European Project outcomes. Moreover, also the issue of tools supporting web services management and composition was discussed. Moreover, also the issue of business models for web services was discussed. Workshop participants also underlined that automatic comparison of Service Level Agreement details with parameters calculated from execution should be enabled in order to control the contract details.

Conclusion

"The future of software evolution - service composition on ASG Platform" Industry Workshop included a lot of discussions on web services, platforms for web services and business models connected to web services utilisation. Participants also underlined large number of web services specifications that increase a complexity of industry applications. Moreover, the issue of web services description was discussed. Currently most of the web services description approaches focus mainly on functional parameters taking into account only a few non-functional ones. From business point of view quality of result and quality of execution that are described by several parameters are extremely important when negotiating on price of a service - so the research should focus also on large number of non-functional parameters.
