The flexible adjustment of complex information technologies into enterprise business processes by Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) is one of the topics in many fields of the IT- and telecommunications industry. But how can SOA provide the necessary flexibility? And are technologies e.g. those of Semantic Web capable to eliminate the weaknesses of service-oriented architectures? These and other questions are topics of the industry workshop "Adaptive SOA", which presents the newest knowledge from the fields of SOA and Semantic Web Services, shows the strengths and weaknesses and points out finally the possibilities and challenges in the practical use of them.
The EU-FP6-Integrated Project "Adaptive Services Grid" (ASG) invites all interested parties of Information and Software Technologies to compare their reqiurements with the results of the ASG-project and to discuss chances and constraints of these technologies. Basis for such a discussion could be the ASG key results such as the reference architecture for semantic service platforms, tools for the easy integration of external services, or the ASG business scenarios used to proof the functionality of methods, concepts and the platform itself. Experts of the project will prototypically demonstrate, how service composition and service management can be supported and automated with the help of semantic specifications in order to adapt to business processes more flexible and more dynamic.
The workshop is part of the final project meeting of the ASG consortium, where experts from 6 member states of the European union and Australia come together to exchange actual R&D knowledge and to discuss the final project results in plenary sessions, workshops and discussion rounds.
