Summary

The goal of the ASG Dissemination Instrument Scientific Session is to exchange knowledge of competent partner institutions of ASG-Consortium to support an effective project ongoing based on own, well-known experiences or solutions. The Scientific Session "ASG Formal Ontology" has the attempt to design and outline concepts regarding the ASG ontology in relation to usage scenarios and especially the Service Specification Model. Further, inter-component communication and mapping possibilities between ontologies and data-formats as well as to other existing concepts were in focus.

Discussion Topics and Challenges

  • Finding ways and concepts of representing ASG Services and its semantics internally
  • Service Composition regarding the Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) Technology in conjunction with ASG Service Specifications
  • A refined Service Specification model in the ASG Ontology for atomic and composed services
  • Evaluation of concepts and ontologies of two european projects: WSMO and ASG as well as the mapping possibilities between them
  • Evaluation of mapping possibilites between domain ontologies in relation to XML-format and XML-schemas especially for user related data
  • Design of inter-component communication and interfaces based on Java-Technology
  • Definition of how non-functional properties are represented and further extended in ASG to fulfil the required Quality of Services approach
