Members from all project work components
Hasso-Plattner-Institute at the University of Potsdam, Germany, 13.-14. December 2005
The goal of the ASG Dissemination Instrument Scientific Session is to exchange knowledge of competent partner institutions of ASG-Consortium to support an effective project ongoing based on own, well-known experiences or solutions.
The Scientific Session "Web Service Modeling Ontology" has provided scientific basics and practical knowlegde of the web service fields like Web Service Modeling Language, Semantic Web and Web Service Modeling Framework, all under the perspective of using semantics in the ASG-platform.
In a systematic way the session members have openly discussed the usability of serveral scientific approaches as well as possibilities and limits of already developed methods and tools such as tools for handling Semantic Web Services, reasoner for discovery of Web Services, editor for component descriptions and repository for ontology components.
- Conceptual Model
- Grid and Web Services
- Semantic Web and Semantic Web Services
- WSMO Conceptual Model
- WSML Syntax and Semantics
- Creating WSML and Reasoning support for WSML
- Describing Web Services and Domain Ontologies in WSML
- Reasoning for WSML - ongoing research
- WSML and F-Logic - reasoning with Flora2/XSB
- Hands-on Session
- using Flora/XSB
- based on Buddy Scenario
- Goal-Service matching, domain ontology querying
- WSML in the AsgUsecaseScenario
- WSML Tool Support
- Translating the AsgUsecaseScenario into WSML
- Workout: workflow planning and execution
- Discussion of alternatives
- semantic languages: DAML-S/OWL-S, DAML-OIL
- reasoners / deductive databases: Datalog Educational System, Finite-Domain-Constraint-Solver, CORAL
- Since the Integrated Project ASG is combining various R&D-projects the way to find a common solution is accompanied by intensive discussions on the highest scientific level.
The workshop gave a good example for joining many competencies of the best of scientists and of the leading European research projects in ASG. Decisions for ASG :
- on a language for the semantic service specification
- on a reasoner or deductive database
- on the C-2 internal architecture
- on usebility of WSMO for ASG´s challenges
- on choreography
- on a integrator person
- Material
- ASG WSMO Tutorial
- WSMO for Buddy Scenario
- XSB/Flora compiled for Windows
- XSB/Flora ready for compilation to non-Win platform
- 2nd ASG Week in Innsbruck, Austria, 31 Jan - 3 Feb 2005
- ASG-PhD-Session at BIS-Conference Poznan April 2005
