Scientists and developers from dedicated work components, especially work component “Usability and Demonstration”; people from the polish telecommunication industry
April 12, 2005, Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. (TP), Warszawa, Poland
With the purpose of demonstrating potential application of the
ASG platform, several candidates of use case scenarios are under development. These scenarios will
serve as a base to open the door for business and industrial exploitation. In order to solve this task the
project has a dedicated Work Component (C-7) “Usability and Demonstration” which concentrates on the
design and development of these scenarios, e.g. Travel Planner, Location aware Mobile Market Place,
Intelligent Transport Systems and Services, Dynamic Supply Chain Management, Service and
Application Monitoring, E-Government. This session aimed at presenting the ASG project in general and
the first use case scenarios, particularly in the field of telecommunications.
For more details please have a look into the workshop-flyer.
The goal of the industry-oriented session opened the discussion with representatives such as R&D
technologists, developers and especially decision-makers from industry in the respective domains in order
to extract more business requirements and to receive feedback, which is vital for fine tuning future
developments. In preparation the business session a questionnaire was developed to improve future public
sessions and to find trends and locate problems of business sector, e.g. by following key questions:
- Relevance of ASG scenarios for the areas of telecommunication
- highest impact and business benefits
- ASG based service provisioning
- current problems in service provisioning
- potential in integrating 3rd-party services into the own value chain
- attract attention: the ideas of self service configuration, negotiations
- technical aspects were covered well; business goals with open issues
- most interesting scenario (for people of TP): service monitoring;
further scenario mentioned: integration of semantically network elements
- Interesting for the future: Is the ASG platform able to orchestrate the provisioning processes?
- The following aspects of ASG service provisioning were rated as “very important”: adaptiveness / flexibility, process management, decoupling / modularity, automated service discovery & composition; as “not so important”: service semantics, dynamic negotiation of service level agreements, automated workflow replanning (“dangerous”)
- problems in service provisioning: poor integration in the network domain (not enough service oriented)
- emerging technologies which are interesting: SOA and as complement Event Driven Architecture (events - asynchronous communication), Web Services
- for integration services very important: industry standards (TMForum)
